how would I identify what year my ecu was????

this is for a friends 1g that he's building.. he got a jdm galant ecu and is not sure of the year the ecu is.. this matters because his is a 90 and will not work with the 91+...

can we tell by the numbers on the ecu

91 ecus can be made to work in 90 cars.

ehh... im really not sure...

first he got a jdm cyclone motor and didnt know which year it was... than on initial start.. it slipped the timing belt and blew...

soo than he ordered another jdm motor i guess.. i dont even know...

but i dentified it by this

8/90- 3/92 AT (210HP) MD165809

thats the ecu.... soo im guessing it may or may not work with a 90 eclipse

I think it will but you'll have to switch a couple of wires around just like if you swapped a 1991-1994 USDM DSM ECU into a 1990 USDM DSM. If that ECU was used from 8/90-3/92 then it was for 1991 and 1992 model years.

as long as we're on the topic on ecu's ill hijack mark's thread instead of starting a new one. the person who i bought my car from put a mirage ecu in it and he said after he put it in the car ran better and felt quicker..how is that possible? he said the only thing that doesnt work with it is the stock boost gauge
