So its time to replace the wheelchair battery under my spare tire with my winter battery. The Odyssey bearly starts the car, and if I leave a door or the hatch open more then 40 min it wont start. Time to put the Optima back in. I start looking under the spare and with a little dremel'ing on the base of the Optima, I got it to fit perfectly right where the washer tank is. Drops in, I dont think I'll even need a bracket.

Anyway, I need to make my own washer tank and I need some creative thinking. Theres a quarter sized inlet for the fill tube. Three quarter sized holes for the two pumps and sender for the idiot light. And a small hose on the top to vent the air so it actually fills up. Its an enclosed sealed tank otherwise.

I started wondering where I was gona get an enclosed plastic tank in the size I need, then I started thinking about a half gallon jug. Or an aluminum liquid container and just keep the cap on it. Drill some holes in the size I need and seal them with silicon or something.

Just playing with the ideas in my head and thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone had any ideas before I go out and start buying stuff and playing with it.

pretty sure I have seen generic windshield washer tanks in napa. just white plastic square tanks with a couple hose nipples, plastic cap, and the rubber grommet for the washer pump.

just a generic one, find one that is about the size you need and modify it to fit in

or just use the gallon jug WF comes in... just cut out a hole and glace a gromment in there for pumps and what not

I feel really ghetto.

After the RTV dries I'll see if it holds water tomorrow.

I'm glad this will be under my spare so nobody can see it.

The tank works perfectly, but after finding a leak on one of the grommets I should have RTV'd and didnt, I got another leak taking it out of the hatch because the jug is so thin walled it moves too much and breaks the seals. I'm gona re-RTV and try it one more time, otherwise I need to come up with something with thickers walls that wont move. Fits perfectly tho.

get a canteen or something from an army/navy store. you should be able to find a nice square one with thicker walls.

This time I was generous with the RTV and made sure I didnt press on the sides too much as I was moving it around.

It works. Looks stupid, but it works.

If that happens to leak again you can get a 1 gallon gas can for about $3.50 from Pep boys. The material will be much thicker and the cap is air tight.

his is an awd, the only differnce from fwds and awd is the addiition of a rasied "floor" to accommodate the larger spare for awd's.

I guess the 2g's are a bit different. I don't have a jack holder to the side like that, mine tucks into a panel in the rear. Of course I've never been in a 2g, so that makes sense.

1G AWDs have almost no trunk at all, while FWDs get a lot more room.

I thought 2G FWD and AWD had the same trunk space, since its the same well hole under it and the same washer tank. Its a crime that a 2G has a huge round well down there, and the tire doesnt fit so they put in a 2 gallon washer fluid tank and this huge metal structure (you can see it in my pics) just to hold up the spare. So you have a ton of room under the spare to store stuff, but who wants to store stuff under your spare tire?

MikeL- dont you mean the NT cars have a lot more room? Because they dont have a washer tank under there and have a silly small donut. At the next picnic I'm gona have to look at a FWDt AWDt and NT trunk and compare.

Maybe, I thought that the gst's were the same as the nt's.
