Im going with the aem standalone soon and have a question. Does it require a air temp sensor or does it just make up a signal? If it does then would i be able to to my 2-wire hks sensor or would i need a different one? Thanks

they recommend the GM AIT, nate sells the kit, an AIT is required for speed density. Since the forum is down I am not sure if you can use the hks one or not.

You would be able to use that sensor but you would have to enter all the calibration info. Also if you dont want to buy anymore sensors just use your maf.

Use the maf? Why would i put that back in? Does the aem usually come with the map/ait sensors? If not then id rather just keep my TB with the hks ait sensor in it so i dont have to go through the trouble of buying a new one and and welding a bung in.

You can use the hks ait sensor, but you need to know tha calibration of the hks sensor and input that into the ems ait sensor setup table.
IE you need to know X voltage = X Degrees of Temp, it will be in chart form. luckly temp sensors are ususaly very linear. If you can take 2 measuraments at known temps, you can figure the chart out yourself.
Using the maf with the ems is dumb, will be 3 times longer/harder to tune. you have to tune airlfow signal VIA airflow signal. It's a suck ass way to do it, speed density all the way.

Yeah for sure, its map all the way. Ok thanks for the help, ill have to edit my FS post since im keeping the eblow i guess. I would just remove the sensor and sell it seperate but its like glued into the elbow.
