holy shit john you idiot
1 bolt wheels are called knockoffs. you KNOCK the one bolt off. historicly they were the 3 spoke "spinner" that you knock off. look at the old shelby racecars. one of the spokes of the spinners are saftey tied to one of the spokes of the wheels so it can't come undone. the spinner is there so you don't need any tools to get the wheel off. just a rubber mallet to "knock off" the wheel.

there is a history less for you
asshole

gtluke
09-14-2006, 10:11 PM
here,
pictures for you
http://www.erareplicas.com/427/img/pd_hub.jpg

those are not lugs on the rotor. those are "pins" to keep the wheel from moving on the rotor so your brakes work.
you tighten down the spinner and it holds the wheel against the rotor/pins. no lug nuts.

eventually it was faster to use an impact gun at the race track, and more safe i'm sure so it moved from the spinner to a locking nut. like you see on modern race cars and that zonda.

i can't believe i have to explain what a knock off wheels are to a guy who "works on lambo's and ferarri's"

but then again, i remember craig having to explain to you what the difference is between a blow off valve and a wastegate.

BTW, the only road Lambo or Ferrari I know that has one lug wheels, "knockoffs" is an ENZO, and the Porsche Carrera GT has them too. Nathan, keep poking this Blue Evo in John's face when last time you did that, he reminded you that the customer was VERY happy with the car. And why would you tell him he doesn't know what true success is? YOUR version of TRUE SUCCESS is different then HIS. It's a matter of opinion. John's got great family, i know them. The kid has great friends, hell im one of them. And in the last six months he's been outta the shop more then in the whole 3 years i've really known him, always spending time with family and friends, always telling me how important these people are to him and how it's worth it. Nate, you talk like you've seen socially in the last three years to say that he needs money to feel good about himself. I'll tell you that's not the case. He works hard, spends hard and saves hard. One more thing Nate. You've turned the General section on this site to your personal diary to your friends. Just because you are very busy during the day doesnt mean you should post stories of your financial woes on a public forum. Clearly I can choose to NOT read those threads, and i usually make that choice. But have some class and self respect to leave that shit for the bar on Sunday night.

I moved outta my house this summer and im doing better then ever. Maybe that's because i manned up and did what needed to get done instead of posting on car forums, maybe.

... and we thought the east coast west coast rapper rivalries were harsh...

Actually, I never really thought about that rivalry since it was after my time, but I did see a story once on E. ;)

Chris, I appreciate the manner is which you spoke up on behalf of John. No doubt that a few of Nate's friends may feel the need to chime in, but to what result? Can we not all see where this is headed? I know MikeL did since it was moved to SmackTalk in a nanosecond.

It is indeed tempting to engage and I for one have participated in the more political sided discussions. However, personal attacks among friends/colleagues/even competitors is hardly proper and on a pubic board never appropriate. Always remember "praise in public, counsel in private!" I submit that if someone has something critical they want to get off their chest, say it man-to-man or at least the 21st century version of man-to-man.... by PM/IM :)

I have known John and Nate for years and even though I do not know them as well as some of you, I can say that both are decent hardworking men and nowadays that is saying a lot.

I would say that the insulting words that are hurled are based out of youthful exhuberance, but both are well into their 20s and therefore should arguably not succumb to the "my dad is better than your dad" mentality. Each has his own private level of success and I suspect the other even shares the other person's views although perhaps not in the same priority.

WRT defining success, to each his own. But one should not claim financial security as the final arbiter. In my experience, financial success has so much more to do with being at the right place at the right time. Sure a person's individual motivation and drive have some play, but there are too many intelligent hardworking people who struggle to make ends meet to lead me to believe that brainpower and dedication are the only factors. Success IMHO is most likely the ability to balance your life to have enough to be satisfied. At least that is what I strive to do.

So if Nate and John are satisfied with their respective lives, then as I see it both are successful already. There is not need to prove one's success by pointing to what that person may feel is another person's failure. I have been through enough personal failures (in my own mind) to know that each event was merely an opptortunity to excell. It is the ability to overcome those personal failures that define the person.

On a final note, if you guys want to read about some SMACKTALK look at the recent news story below. Anyone want to take a guess at where this will lead?

Just becuase the buyer of that evo is happy doesn't change the fact that John lied through his teeth about the car, it's warranty, it's condition. He got called out by atleast 10 respeected long time NJDSM members. Then lied about "getting mitsubishi to reinstate the warranty becuase he did such a good job installing the new motor". John is a fucking Liar, most everyone on here knows it. HE will lie when he has to make a sale.

If JN doesn't revolve around money, why does EVERY post he makes have a namedrop of someone famous, or show of some big $ car he just drove. I don't think he's made a post in over a year that wasn't a "look at me, Im driving am exotic today".

The only dig he can make on me is that Im not in the best financial situation and I swear it on my sleeve. NJDSM is my freinds (most of them, except for the dickhead in question), I have nothing to hide here, so I talk about everything that comes up.

As for who will see the printed thread, well, I have LOTS of previous Broadway customers that come to me for thier dsm parts after being shafted by John. There's a reason I have a few things hanging in the office, a collection of "I got F'd in the A at broadway" stories peopel told me last time John and I got into it on here. Ill just put this one right next to it.

Somehow you think my business is dead already. I still have alot of customers coming through, and still selling alot. My choice was to downsize so I could eliminate employees. I want out of this, and downsizing was one step in the process. But whatever, I dont' have to justify anything to you guys.

Maybe im too young and naive, but most of what mr smurf said is a more ariculated and less emotional rendition of what i had said. Regardless, i'm always going to stand up for one of my friends when they are being badgered. I'm never too busy for that.

If his life revolved around money, we wouldn't be friends cuz i certainly dont have disposable income like he does. It's a matter of respect and work ethic that make he and I friends. Plenty of members enjoy exotics and wish they could be in John's shoes for a minute when he has any of those cars in his hands. You really expect him to post about DSMs when he doesn't drive his and his business has evolved to servicing high end cars?

John would never laugh at you for being on hard times. Don't even go there.

Also, are you so damn naive to think John or TTR never took an unsatisfied customer from you? They all circulate, it works out pretty evenly. And you bring that kind of shit up AGAIN. I can just laugh because i know John has gone miles for undeserving and ungrateful customers. I honestly think you know a lot about business. With that said, I cannot believe you think hearing a sob story from some DSM customer is a true idication of how John's customer service is.

Don't justify anything to me, but don't think John doesn't have friends to back him up on here either.

Chris summed up everything for me. Thanks bud.

Nate, it is upsetting knowing these internet BS ramblings actually affect your blood pressure and life so much. They just affect the amount of time it takes me to read, and I laugh a lot too.

Utah, I never would never say anything about how much money I have or dont have to anyone but a close friend, let alone on a board. Posting a thread about an awesome car or saying I got to work on an exotic, etc, in no way is saying I'm rich. I dont even own them. I'm lucky enough to play with them and drive them. Some guys dont even want to see .1 extra miles on their cars when I work on them, some let me take them at will. If you know me in person, I am by far the least arrogant person you can meet. I actually love to give. I made the statement about earning because Nate busted my chops about my dad. Simple. I dont need to see that even though he had a smiley face there.

What I will brag about earning, is these "rich exotic car owners" trust. Someone posted these cars come to me on a flatbed "from my uncles body shop". I dont have uncles who own body shops, let alone an uncle who can pronounce Murcielago. I will brag that these people trust their quarter million $$ vehicles to me, most of the time barely knowing me personally, and only knowing about me through word of mouth. I earned these people on my own and it's worth more to me than the money I make. These older, established multi millionares are people I LOVE to learn lifes lessons from, as a supplement to my father who is my only real idol.

This you can print and hang on your wall Nate. Have a good weekend, I'm off to the City now!

Maybe im too young and naive, but most of what mr smurf said is a more ariculated and less emotional rendition of what i had said.

I can't resist the spirit of this thread... If you meant articulated, how many degrees of movement does what he said have? Priceless error and perfectly placed! Wrong spelling, wrong word, and proving your statement in duplicate!

LOL
in duplicate, well put, except i meant articulate. i imagine you wouldn't need a definition, but for anyone else following:
