Funny you mention that, I got pulled over in the Supra this past Saturday night coming back from Union. I was actually ON my street and the cop pulled me over for "extremely loud exhaust". He eventually let me go when I told him to say hi to his boss for me, but if it was some other town, I'm sure I would have been nailed. Getting ready for the warm weather already....

and screw u greg.... i NEVER get away with exhaust tickets.. even in my own town... im up to 9 .. and they tell me " I see your not new to these tickets" everytime i get one... they need to just give up, im never gonna fix my " exhaust problem 8) "

I've noticed it too lately and I have no clue as to why; but the entire stretch from Bloomingdale all the way to the GWB has been littered with cops. Not any particular kind either, staties, sheriffs, and locals. They got me on 80 towards the bridge, but still a couple miles away from it (I've never seen a cop there before in my life) sitting in between local and express lanes and SOB popped doing me 90 late one night going back out to school.
on the same stretch I saw two pulled over cars today, one blue Evo and one white 2Gb Eclipse...
and that's where I was doing my logging 100mph runs this weekend

lol yup. cop wouldnt even let me or nouri get a word in. took my shit, wrote the ticket (25+ instead of 20-24, asshole) and left. One of the most useless spots for it to be 45, i mean, it goes from 55 (before s turns) to 50 to 45 (at the hill) to 50 (right after the hill) just to ruin your life basically.
Offtopic a little bit, but what is really sad is that a town like mine has cops that cant do their job's because there is no crime, so they make up crimes to give tickets for. This is based on where i spend most of my time now, newark, where cops actually have real crime to worry about, instead of modified cars (except hondas) or speeding. i cant tell you how many times i've ran red lights in newark in front of cops just because its newark...cops dont give a shit about petty little driving infractions.

because there is no crime, so they make up crimes to give tickets for.
Getting nailed for 20-24 over the speed limit isnt 'making up crimes'. You knew the speed limit, you had control over the car, you know the consequences of speeding, yet you did it anyway, and you got caught. Yes cops might not have anything better to do, but speeding is still against the law and they are in place to enforce the law... they could be doing much worse, trust me. If you dont like the laws take it up with the politicians, dont blame the police, its like shooting the messenger

Kyle, after all your pro-cop posts, it leads me to believe you either want to become a cop or your dad/some relative is. The statement I made wasn't about my speeding ticket. I know that's illegal. I'm talking about say, driving with a bunch of your friends legally and getting slapped almost with "street racing". Speeding is one thing, stupid made up shit is another. You don't know the history of some of my tickets man. (a good example: i got "following too closely", which is a 2pt ticket, when I was the lead car!), so stop.
this was NOT about my speeding ticket. the cop could have been a little nice, instead of a complete dick but that doesnt really mean anything as far as this post is concerned. (again, 25+ instead of 20-24).
But anyway, Mr. Law, tell me this then. After I got that ticket and dropped off nouri, I was on my way back to town, at the S-turns on 23. I was like fine, i'll do the speedlimit (to see how many accidents i could cause). I set the cruise to 39mph (speedlimit is 40mph) and guess what Mr. Law? I GOT PULLED OVER! YEP for doing 39 in a 40. (Cop first asked if something was wrong with my car, then i told him i was doing the speedlimit. He then said its a good rule of thumb to follow traffic!) YOU DO NOT know what I have to put up with. I was also boxed in that same day, going back to newark (while on 15) doing 45mph cause i didnt know the speedlimit (turns out to be 50mph). cop directly to my left, pacing me for a good 5 miles, and a cop right up my ass to boot. i've been harassed numerous times man, so just because you love cops and havent been harassed, doesnt mean theyre nice to everyone.
and DSMorBust, it works both ways. Being white in a predominatley black neighborhood is just the same. A few weeks ago my friend went with some kids to go look at a 300zx in Irvington. Before they know it, they're pulled over, taken out of the car and searched for drugs. Of course they found nothing...its complete bullshit.
And one more thing about 280 and such...cops around there know how to be cops. They might get ya for speeding occasionally, but usually they are more worried about dangerous crimes. They also don't pace you or tailgate you into a nervous wreck if your the only one on the highway. They will simply pass you. Now in my town, and plenty of towns around me, cops will ride your ass, scare the shit out of you to get you to swerve or something, and then pull you over and give you a ticket. That is an example of them creating a crime. I probably wouldn't have hatred towards cops if i had a gold pba card, or lots of money. But neither is the case. So every time i get a ticket, i have to bite the bullet, even if it was total BS simply because i cant keep shelling out thousands of dollars and miss days of class to fight it.

dude I live in Parsippany too. You have nothing to bitch about, the cops here ARE NOT assholes here. Although it is a predominantly white town, it is a HUGE town that is very culturally diverse. If you've ever been 'racially profiled' in Parsippany, please let me know what the cop's name was... the departments are dying to get unjust cops off of the street, Denville recently fired 3 of their officers (on a 11 officer squad, I believe) from complaints of unjust tickets.
Well let me start here. What is your excuse for getting all these tickets Joe? You can't pull the 'racial profiling' card since your white, you can't pull the 'street racer' card in a bmw and now a lexus, and your getting close in age to ruling out the 'young stupid teenager' card. Now tell me what is left that constitutes you getting a ticket practically twice a month?!? It must be your driving habits or your attitude once the officer pulls you over. I have had a drivers license for over 4 years now, and got 2 tickets in that entire time. (pulled over for 32 in a 25, but the ticket was for failure to wear seatbelt - even though I WAS wearing my seatbelt, I just took it off to reach my registration in the glove box) I gladly took that ticket, b/c it is a better alternative than getting a speeding ticket, even if it was for 7mph over the speed limit  . Besides that one incident, I got pulled over three other times. One I was taken out of the car and given a VERY extensive field sobriety test while they ripped my car apart. I was not drunk and I had nothing in the car, therefore I was released. The other was a routine traffic stop for my exhaust "being too loud" on my camaro (headers and out  ), and the last was an inspection waypoint on route 10 where the cop told me "I'm going to write you a warning for no front license plate", and came back with an actual ticket, and sarcastically said "oops, I'm sorry, I wrote the ticket slip out by accident, have a nice day". Everyone goes through the bullshit, I've talked my way out of two tickets, and I've only once mentioned any family member being a state trooper.
For the record, yes I do have family members in the police force. And yes, my major is Criminal Justice, but I do not plan on being a cop. I defend cops because I understand what they go through honestly I'm tired of people constantly bitching about being profiled/harrassed/illegally searched etc. Maybe you have had one or two instances when you actually didnt do anything wrong. But to throw the blame on the cops every time is just you not wanting to take any blame for anything. I dont complain about my tickets because I was caught doing something illegal. Big whoop. I accept the fact that I fucked up and move on. If you have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong, trust me, YOU WILL NOT get a ticket. And Joe this isnt directed explicitly towards you so don't take this all personally, I'm primarily generalizing, but I mean come on man. Take some kind of responsibility for your actions. If you want to be in the car modification scene, you have to put up with cops giving you shit. They dont want street races in their town. When your observed following a caravan of modified cars leaving nanuet, there might be some reason for the cop to think something shady is going down. You constantly find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Change your habits and you'll have less frequent encounters with the po po... You guys need to stop thinking like deprived selfish 17 year olds and start acting like men. Fess up to what you did wrong and get on with it. Again, Joe, this was not solely directed towards you.
Thanks for attempting to read my 80 page rant. Flame on. I can debate this for years, I just hate the cop bashers out there that find any excuse to put the blame on anyone but themselves. If your not doing anything wrong, your respectful to the police, and you have nothing to hide inside the car, it makes it very difficult for a cop to justify either pulling you over, or giving you a ticket.

kyle, what are "all these tickets"? i got a speeding ticket which i deserved. i got pulled over for going 39 in a 40 in the same day, don't know what i did wrong there. i got paced for making a left at a green light and doing 5mph under the speed limit, the same day. TRUST me, if anyone is afraid of tickets its ME, i have to pay for them all. It's funny you mention the springvalley thing. I don't see how I can relate to "modified cars" in a 100% stock bmw. I wasn't even near the gang of cars until they came up on me on the parkway. This one is a good example because gvr4737 was actually in the car as it happened. I've been "harassed" on atleast 4 occasions. 4 times where i have gone/have to still go to fight for my innoncence. It's no suprise that everytime I go, i end up getting the points dropped because the stories never make sense. It's even more annoying when I come to a deal with a prosecutor and have to pay money for something I didn't do, than to hire a lawyer and waste even more money to get away clean. Its a lose-lose situation. I wouldn't have had to pay $2000 if it wasnt for asshole cops. It is a major pain in the ass. Idk if i should consider you lucky, or the fact that you just have connections, which is why you didnt deal with shit i have. Oh and btw, im never an ass to a cop, you just bring it up every time you post.
I would now like to do a run-down to see how many tickets I actually deserved:
2x speeding - guilty
license plate frame covering "Garden State" on the plate - guilty
careless driving - honking a horn without knowing animals were around is not careless driving, i dont care what the law says.
careless driving - slid slighty on salty roads, tcs kicked right on. involuntarily slid 5 inches. not guilty
failure to signal a turn - when i used my blinker, which worked! not guilty
39 in a 40 - shouldn't have been pulled over.
parking ticket (back in HS) - i parked where my SCHOOL assigned me to park. not guilty
"following too closely" (cop said he was giving me a break, wasn't going to write me up for my tint, exhaust, and illegal modifications. please note: this was a 100% stock bmw) - lead car, no one infront of me. not guilty
im sure there is more, just can't think of them at this time.

having connections has nothing to do with it. I don't like to flaunt my relations either through family or on my own account, and I only use them as a last resort to save myself from having to pay money. Like I said, from what I can remember, I've only pulled that one out once. The other times I realized I was caught doing wrong and took my punishment, payed my fines, and went on with my life.
If I remember the nanuet story correctly, weren't you following a group of cars that were either already racing, or driving to a location to race?!? Who cares what car you are in at the time. You said that a whole line of the cars were pulled over. You happened to be in the line of 'modified cars'. What are the chances that a bmw full of college kids are in a line of cars going to race, and they arent involved in it in some way. Those cops are desperately trying to end the racing problem in the area, and it is no suprise they are going to hand out various tickets. Maybe your ticket wasnt justified since you were the lead car, but it could have been worse. It is the price you pay for wanting to witness a street race and show up to an event such as nanuet.

and I dont know what your like to the cops when you get pulled over. But when I did the "ride-along" program with the Morristown Police department, it is amazing the type of things people will say to cops when they get pulled over. Probably 1/4 of the tickets issued, the cop said that he wouldnt have gone through the trouble of giving them a ticket if they hadnt given him lip in one way or the other. I've never been with you when you've been pulled over, but there are not many factors left as to why you consistantly are getting tickets, I speculated and for that I apologize. Who knows why you keep getting pulled over, but figure it out asap so you dont have to pay any more money

In nanuet, i was the lead car, going home. I figured I'd catch the race on the way. Cops blocked off the highway, while i was the lead car. I only dropped back cause the cop was going to physically hit my vehicle. What isn't fair is the fact that the line of 100modified cars just passed through as I had to sit there and get a ticket for something I never did. He also stated that if i was to even speak for a second, he would impound my vehicle. His logic also didn't make sense. I saw the cops as soon as I got on the highway and did as much as I could to avoid a ticket. (did the speedlimit, moving over when cop was going to hit me)
Every single time i have been pulled over i was apologetic and truthful. I never got caught in a lie, sometimes the cops even acted real nice. But i still ended up with these tickets.
This concerns me for a number of reasons. Take gvr4737 for example, hes managed to squeeze out a "loud muffler" ticket instead of speed. He also has gotten away with his careless driving incident (i think he was eating something). I could also take my other friend, who was pulled over for loud exhaust. Cop smelled alcohol in the car, said he would worry about it later. Came back with a loud exhaust warning.
It's reasons like this, that I dont understand why when I try to obey the law, i get these tickets. Its not like the cops know me, and purposely choose to single me out, so I don't really know what it is.
I guess the only way to stay away from tickets is to work towards getting into the fbi field, or paying a crooked cop for a pba card.

Let me rephrase that, if you are in the fast lane holding up traffic or going some ridiculously slow speed in the left lane you should be pulled over and ticketed. If people started getting tickets for just sitting in the fast lane more people would stay out of it, but i agree it is a double edged sword.

newark is just one big clusterfuck. That is one of the rare exceptions where I will blast the police. They have no idea what they are doing and a good amount of them do not have the right intentions when they joined the force. IMO, I honestly think that the military should take control of Newark and some surrounding regions. Yea it sounds a little harsh, but shit... there are places there that cops dont even bother going into b/c its too dangerous, what kinda neighborhood is that? It needs to be cleaned up badly, and I doubt the cops there are going to be able to do it.
You can get a pba card from a cop in newark if you like, it wont do you any good. If the card isnt from a direct family member they will most likely just blow you off, take the card, and write you more tickets for being a cock and trying to get out of the tickets via some schmuck in newark. There is a better way to avoid paying for tickets.... avoid being stuck in the middle of the 'car race scene', avoid one lane highways, and get home at reasonable hours. One trick that I learned that actually worked very well: If you drive past a parked cop and look at him the whole time your driving by, he will notice and have suspicion to pull you over b/c you look nervous (not legal suspiscion, just intuition). Instead, when you pass one, go on with your business, dont slow down under the speed limit and pretend like he wasnt even there... you'll blend in with the other 2000 cars that are going to pass him in that spot, and makes your chances of being singled out much lower

Uh no I wouldnt be pissed. Thats the law. STAY RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS.
If its a busy highway and some asstard is in the left lane, its annoying but not a big deal because all three lanes are clogged anyway its probably just some dumb ass commuter not caring what lane they're in.
But this drives me nuts: A totally EMPTY 3 lane highway. You have some losers sitting their asses in the middle lane going 5 to 10 over (slow for these days) so then you have other cars creeping past them at 7 to 12 over in the left lane. Your options: sit behind the left lane slow passers and hope they get out of the way once they eventutally pass, or scoot over two lanes to the right and hope you can do it safely and the losers dont get paralized for being passed on the right. Its not the fault of the slow passers in the left lane, its the MORONS in the middle lane doing close to the limit with an EMPTY lane in the right. I've seen miles of highway with the middle and left lane clogged and ONE or TWO cars in the right lane (just enough so you cant use it to pass anyway).
And I'm sure the morons in the center lane are thinking "I'm so safe, those cars are going way too fast and are a danger to society!" while they're causing a huge problem without even knowing it.
If you're afraid of cars getting on and off of exits so you stay out of the right lane, you shouldnt be on a highway. Period.

I wish they'd patrol during rush hour to ticket assholes who cut between you and the car in front of you if you leave more than 1.5 car lengths so they can "get one more car ahead" and almost cause a Nascar chain reaction wreck but instead they write tickets when its totally safe to speed. Fuckheads.
Thats when it seems I get all my tickets... not when i'm weaving in and out of traffic like an asshole but when i'm cruisning an open empty stretch of highway at 2am going 85+ (yes I know this is 20 over but on open empty stretches of highway who gives a fuck?)

There is one thing that bothers me more than anyone driving slowly on the highway. It's not illegal and there really isnt much harm caused by it, but its just one of those things I can't stand!!!!! It's when there is a red light... everyone pulls up to the solid stop line, but there is always that one fucker that sits 2 car lengths behind the line for NO good reason. No one in front of him, no chance of oncoming traffic, just decides to stop 30 feet short of the line. It's probably just me that gets angry over this, but god is it annoying

I remember when carjacking was the media's "panic problem of the year" (like roadrage, sharks, home invasion, westnile mosquitos, lyme disease.... right now its birdflu... meanwhile those problems have been at the same rate the last 10 years its just now that the media makes their advertising dollars off it everyone thinks its a problem) and EVERYONE was leaving like 3 car lengths so they could "escape" from a carjacker. Then the news moved on to the next "huge disaster that everyone needs to know about" like sharks eating you when you dip your toes in the water at the Jersey shore and everyone forgot and stopped doing it.

lol yup. cop wouldnt even let me or nouri get a word in. took my shit, wrote the ticket (25+ instead of 20-24, asshole) and left.
I belive thats illegal...isnt that called a speed trap? in order to chang the speed limit the signs have to be a certain distance?
twizzle
04-03-2006, 12:53 AM
i think they could justify it because its a big downhill and you have to go slower for safety maybe. but like, literally 1 second after you go down the hill its 50 again. w/e.

04-03-2006, 01:27 AM
Its a speed trap, there is one on 23 in west milford, too. Justifiable or not its still a speed trap. I believe the one on the 23s hill is because of 287 merging right there- but it's still 50 I believe on 23n.

heh, startin to sound like me. esp now since i dont know how fast im really going, i just let everyone pass me. last night was the first time i passed a cop (sitting on side of road) on the S-turns while following traffic flow, and didnt get pulled over! yay for me! he did however rip right behind me 4 mins later, only to rip past me and everyone else at about 100mph with no flashing lights on. AND i saw a bike on 23 at those sturns pulled over by 2 other cops. maybe its my car now  its also funny, i didnt have license plate lights (had no time to fix em) either and the windows were up (tinted). maybe this is a revelation.

Whenever i went to PA everyones nicer the drivers, people who work at gas stations and supermarkets. Hell even the toll both people say have a nice day.
gas stations are at fault for me totaling my galant Gsx ... if they had jack for me to put my spare tire on in a snow storm I wouldnt of been soo pissed and driving around on a flat waiting for someone to help.. which they eventually did ( nice guy from queens in a sunfire) and than driving home pissed off after having a horrible night and eventually sliding off the road going over a gaurd rail and almost flipping.. close to death.. totalling a car i wish i had today

Going back to the original question/post? I have the same problem
down here around this time, IMO because it's spring break. I've been
down here awhile and I noticed that at this time till about may, out
of town cars are the ones being pulled over. Which is great for me
but of course there's a catch 22.
There's not enough cops to catch everyone from out of state doing
something illegal. Such as cutting across the highway or street
because they don't know the area. They see the sign for the beach
and they go crazy  And the real kicker, when people are coming
off the beach or a club, drunk late at night. So for me I still have to
avoid driving alot during this time not in fear of the cops(for once  )
but because of people from out of state damn near killing me... :(
Of course this theory doesn't really apply to NJ at this time. So my
guess is there's some kind of security problem and/or they're looking
for somebody or something. Or simply quota time... http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/fragend/confused-smiley-013.gif

cops are still littered on 23, 80, and 287. i drive them almost every day, never seen this many cops and undercovers in a LONG time. +construction on 280 adds to the amount of cops. same with 46.

yep, new chargers (dark steel gray, tinted, no visible lights/antennas, black wheels chrome centers 5 spoke) have been seen on rt. 23 up and down, and 287 from exit 53 to boonton but probably farther down too.
gvr4737
05-08-2006, 08:55 AM
yes sir...
i almost got fucked by the new charger already... just following traffic everyone was going thru a yellow light slow... for some reason I decided to stop and not go thru the light.. which probably woulda turned red before i made it across... than I look to my left and see the gray charger sitting there on the side of rt 23... completly unmarked.. no lights.. no mirrors... only reason I knew it was a cop was because I rememeber hearing about them and I saw officer dickhead in the car....
soo what happens if im speeding slowly and one of these chargers gets on my ass... being completly unmarked and known for just being some old hardass trying to keep up with me.. what if i accelerate and do like 100+ mph... while he is pacing me... not shooting radar... than pulls me over like 5 minutes later and I get fucked in the ass by high speeding ticket... this is unjust.... what if i brake check him???? i dont see how this can be fair.... its not like an unmarked crown vic...
iboostdoyou
05-08-2006, 09:20 AM
not fair? Just because he doesnt have a billboard that screams "LOOK AT ME I'M A COP, DONT SPEED" mean's that its unjust? Come on Mark, you know better than that

So many time I was on some dirt road on a mountain looking down on 78 and almost every time I saw their gay blue and red flashing lights with another open wallet on the side of the road.

the wheels i got thru " Wheelmax" ...
u spend like extra $200 for warranty on them and its complete garbage...
i called their insurance people that handle claims... they even asked me the model of the wheel.. but at that point didnt tell me that they werent dealing with those rims anymore... soo i payed $27 shipping to send it to them.. to later find out they dont have those wheels anymore and that they would give me $150 back... but wouldnt send the rim.. soo id have to get a whole new set of 4 and spend extra money i dont have.... soo only other choice was to give them $20 to send me my cracked wheel back..
soo the wheel should be here wednesday... than im gonna give it to the aluminuim welder at my dads shop and have him go to town on it... than ill have to sand and paint it... idk how safe ill feel on a welded rim like that... soo ill probably just start saving up for another set of rims
steveVR4
05-08-2006, 02:51 PM
Would they only give you $150 credit, or give you actual cash? Couldn't you have used that to pick up a 4th rim somewhere else, or used? It doesn't sound as bad now that you say they offered you the $150, but it does suck that they can't replace it for you.
gvr4737
05-08-2006, 03:05 PM
no not cash..
it was $150 towards another rim from them...
which.. basically they were like... we will give u $150 credit plus give u a really really good deal on another set of rims... and i said " are u fucking serious... only way im buying another set of rims is if its a killer deal".. they were like.. " well wat kinda money u wanna spend".. i said... " not more than $300 right now "... " ohh well we can send u back ur rim and u can have it fixed"... but that will cost u $20
basically they wanted me to shell out another $600 or soo on a set of rims... complete garbage

heh, your forgetting that "nice grey powdercoat" was fucked up way before that, because, you know, 240 owners dont get extended wheel studs that they need, they'd rather just slap on the lugnuts that fit halfway and scratch the paint, and eventually almost cause a wheel to fall off, cause THATS jdm tyte.
