Check out that cage, totally functional. He wouldn't want to hit a pothole and flip it over... or be topping out that 1.8 liter on the autobahn and flip over either...

Actually, I see the reason for the cage. The car is so low that when it's traveling at 70mph, the wind is flying over it, somewhat crushing the car down, the cage is there to save the passengers from the downforce... now I know exactly why it's needed... :roll:

i'm not a huge vw guy, but isnt the 1.8 NOT a crossflow, where as the 2.0 is? The 1.8 would then have more area to be "gold" :lol: . I dont know if thats the reason why he went smaller, seems pretty stupid since you could just get a different manifold for the xflow and be good to go, but just a thought. Btw, I just dont understand why the euro guys insist on wheels like that. They stick out 4" from the fender with tires too small for the wheel, and they get larger wheels for the back like they are some kind of rwd monster :roll: I just dont get it at all, not only does it not make sense, it looks like crap

Whatever floats there boat I guess. That car looks fucking pure bad ass from the front though, no denying that. I do agree on the rims though... I see them doing it on VW polos and whatnot, like wtf? 13" rims on a freaking minivan looking car.

the CL had a 1.8 which most likely was a counterflow. The valve cover was from a G60 though. We never got the CL here, but Canada did.

Correct, the older 1.8's were counterflow motors whereas the 2L 8v's are crossflows. you guys could be right.
