View Full Version : Clutch Pedal Noise?

I know that DSM's have a problem with a part of the clutch pedal assembly wearing. I thought GVR4's had a little different set up that made them not prone to the same wear but for the last few months, when I push the clutch pedal down to the floor I get fairly loud click from under the dash. I noticed that if I don't let the pedal all the way up and keep pressure on the pedal assembly I can shift all day long without the noise happening. Obviously that's not a good idea but the clicking noise is driving me crazy. Is this a case where I have to remove the pedal assembly and either weld or replace it? I really can't pinpoint where it's coming from so if that noise is the normal symptom of a worn clutch pedal assembly then I'll pull it and weld it. I looked in the VFAQ with no results.

I think the only sign for a worn clutch pedal assembly is if you let off the pedal and then can pull it up with your hand. If theres still like an inch left for it to move up then the assembly is worn.

Hmmmm, then the assembly isn't worn. It's probably the stupid plastic pieces and spring on the clutch master side. I wish I could ignore it but stupid shit like that drives me CRAZY so I must fix it. I'll try drowning it in white lithium spray lube and see what happens.

thats a noise they had installed in the factory. its like those whistles that are on the fronts of cars to scare off deer. its to keep bambi from walking in front of your car when your driving in a parking lot. why didnt anyone else know this?

don't forget he's talking about a galant. which uses a different clutch pedal setup than a dsm. the galant's don't have that stripped out clutch pedal like the dsm's do. at least not that i know of. i've never heard of it. it is a completely different hinge mechanism.
